Lufthansa Plans on Cutting Back Summer 2023 Schedule

Lufthansa to cancel over 30,000 flights from its summer 2023 schedule due to staff shortages in the aviation industry, according to reports in Germany.

The German airline is said to be reducing its schedule by some 34,000 flights this summer, in an effort to mitigate operational problems experienced in the past.

While a Lufthansa spokesperson did not confirm the exact number of cancellations, they stated that the airline is “adjusting its flight schedule for summer” and explained that staffing bottlenecks in the aviation industry have not yet been completely overcome.

The latest move follows a strike at German airports by the Ver.di trade union, which forced Lufthansa to cancel all flights from Frankfurt and Munich on 17 February.

The airline had to cancel more than 1,300 services at the affected airports.
